I recently had the privilege of speaking at the Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute's forum.

But what stood out most to me was a simple realization.

The future of healthcare cannot be about treating illness alone.

It must be about creating health.

For too long, our system has focused almost exclusively on reacting once disease appears.

But after years working in critical care, I have seen firsthand what happens when we wait too long.

- Cancer.
- Cardiovascular disease.
- Type 2 diabetes.
- Severe infections.
- Loss of mobility.
- Preventable suffering.
The answer is not simply building more hospitals or adding more medications.

The answer is prevention.

And this goes beyond patients.

We need healthier individuals, yes.

But we also need healthier employees, healthier leaders, and healthier healthcare providers so people can consistently show up as the best version of themselves.

This is why I continue to believe in the principles behind the PRESS Method:

- Purpose.
- Restoration.
- Eating well.
- Strength and exercise.
- Social connection.
This is not wellness for the sake of wellness.

This is the future of healthcare.

A future where we focus on creating health rather than simply managing disease.

A future where reducing suffering and improving outcomes can also be the most cost-effective path forward.

The solutions are here.

The evidence is growing.

The opportunity is enormous.

If we truly lean into prevention, what we build over the next decade could be transformative.

The question is simple:

Are we ready to rethink healthcare before the system forces us to?
